Sci-Fi Republik was formed in 2020 near Seattle by Jennifer Humphreys (vocals) and D.A. Sebasstian (vocals and music) and uses vintage analog synth and drum machine sounds with post-punk and sci-fi gothik sensibilities.
The duo met through mutual friends when Humphreys was a Spokesmodel for The Kustom Kulture Festival and Sebasstian was filming the event for his Amazon TV Show "Go-Kustom TV". During a random Social Media conversation during the height of the Covid outbreak, they realized they both had a passion for David Bowie and 1980’s synth music. This led Sebasstian to invite Humphreys to his home studio to record their first demos.
For Humphreys this was her first time in the recording studio, though she has been singing and performing on stage her entire life. Her range is extensive and besides 1980’s New Wave she has a deep appreciation for 1940’s through 1970’s music styles. Sebasstian is best known for fronting the industrial band Kill Switch…Klick and the psychobilly surf project D.A. Sebasstian & The Inner Demons. He has also produced dozens of bands and done remixes for Gary Numan and Gene Loves Jezebel.
In 2021 multi-instrumentalist Goldi SinClaire joined the group performing additional vocals and keyboards, making the band officially a trio. She has been playing keyboards and synth for over thirteen years. She is also a contributing songwriter to the project. Her influences include Glamour, New Wave, Dance Music and David Bowie.
The bands first music video for the song Kontaminate You (Variant) debuted December, 31st 2023 on their Facebook page then YouTube.
Their single We Look Like You was released July 2024 with the band filming two new music videos and working on their first full length album- all set for release in 2025.
